5 Reasons I love the ESEE Izula

The Best ESEE Izula Custom Kydex Sheath
The Izula ESEE is one of my go-to EDC blades for more reasons than I have time to articulate into words.  The Izula is small yet rugged, simplistic yet robust, and is capable of doing almost any task you can ask of it.   The ESEE Izula is a small fixed blade (SFB) knife that is perfect for everything from bushcraft chores to yard work, and from opening mail to food prep.  The ESSEE Izula will be able to take on just about any challenge that you can throw at it.

5 Reasons I love the ESEE Izula

  1. The (relatively) small size.  The Izula is small enough to where you can pull it out to perform an everyday task without scaring the heck out of the people around, but tough enough to accomplish everything that any other EDC blade on the market could.  The Izula is small enough to be used as a neck knife, be tucked away IWB, or to be worn on the belt horizontally, using any number of connections.
  2. It’s a fixed blade.  These days, folding knives are getting more robust, but no matter how strong the locking mechanism, there is still a higher chance of failure than with a fixed blade.  Fixed blades offer strength and peace of mind when performing chores that require hard use.
  3. The simple design.  The flat grind of the Izula may be simple and traditional, but it’s also what allows it to excel in a number of hard use tasks.  The simple design is partly what makes the Izula such a versatile small fixed blade.
  4. The steel.  Most of the ESEE Izula knives are made from 1095 Carbon steel.  1095 is a very durable steel, that is easy to sharpen, retains a great edge, and reacts perfectly with ferro rods for starting fires.  The only downfall to 1095 is that it will rust without proper maintenance.
  5. ESEE’s Unconditional Lifetime Warranty.  ESEE offers an transferable (to any owner of the knife ever) warranty that covers everything.  If the knife breaks for ANY reason, send it in and they will send you a band new knife to replace the broken one!  All ESEE knives are made for hard use applications.  They are not knives that you buy and then baby – use these things!  If you’re anything like me, then the more worn they are, the better they look!

The ESEE Izula

As you can see from the specs, the only real differences between the two knives, is that the Izula II has extra .5 inch added to the handle, which also increased the weight slightly.
The only really negative thing about the ESEE Izula line of knives is the crappy molded plastic sheath that comes standard with the knife.  One of the first products that I made when I got into Kydex, was a sheath for my ESEE Izula.  Beside the enhanced durability over injection molded plastic, Kydex sheaths allow the user to get a customized sheath to fit all of their preferences.

I couldn't agree more. The ESEE Izula is a knife that is just as at home skinning an apple as an elk. It doesn't matter if it's cardboard or bad guys. This little blade will cut through either one just fine. I love small fixedblades and I carry an Izula often. I may put it down from time to time but I always go back to it.
